Clipping 2 from Running through Time: Former Student Athlete Panel

Creator

Description

49 second clipping from "Running through Time: Former Student Athlete Panel." The panel was a Zoom video conference discussion between three Black Tennessee Tech student athlete alumni and one athletic training graduate assistant about their experiences at Tennessee Tech and advice for current students and athletic employees. In the clipping, Morris Irby describes how the Black athletes hung out together on campus and how that helped them adjust to Tennessee Tech.

Transcript of the clipping:
Morris Irby: In 1967-1968, you know there weren’t many African Americans on campus, period. And most of us here were part of some athletic team, either football, basketball, track, and myself in baseball. So we kind of formed our own little groupings and I can remember when the quad was over on the old part of campus. The cafeteria was one of the main center points. You know, I remember us getting together a lot of times there just if nothing more keeping each other company. And I think that went a long way to help us.
