Received his B.A. from Florida State University, 1958; Received his M.A. from Florida State University, 1959; Received his Ph.D. from Florida State University, 1975.
Awarded the Fullbright Scholarship and studied in Spain, 1961-1963. In Spain, he took art history and history courses at the University of Madrid. Taught at the American High School at the American Air Base in Sevilla, Spain, 1964-1968.
Taught at Tennessee Tech University in both the History Department and the Foreign Languages Department from 1968-2004. He taught the Western European Civilization courses, the Survey History of Spain course, the French Revolution and Napoleon course, the 19th Century Europe course, and every quarter or semester, a Spanish language course and every Spring semester, the course, Spain: The Country and the People.
